Dear Dr. Jo: Is there such a thing as love without trust? I am very much in love with my partner; however, he lies to me about stupid stuff. He tells me he loves me all of the time, but it is hard for me to accept because I believe that people do not lie to people that they love. I want more than anything to believe him, but the lying makes me nervous.

In my opinion, without trust there can be no relationship. You can love many people, but when it comes to living with a person, trust needs to be high on the list of requirements. It's easy to throw out the words "I love you", but actions show the true story. Perhaps this is not the best relationship for you and your heart is letting you know that. Listen to your inner voice. When you don't pay attention to your feelings, that inner voice will become quieter; leaving you without a guidance system to keep you out of harms way. — Dr. Jo
